Ensign Peak

Since we've been terrible at blogging lately, I figured I better get on it.  On Saturday we hiked up to the top of Ensign Peak.  That sounds a lot harder than it was, it's only 1 mile round trip.  We brought the kids and borrowed a hiking backpack since we didn't know how Jacob would do.  It was great!  Jacob walked about 2/3 of the way up and all the way down.  Paul got a good workout in with the hiking backpack and carrying Jacob of the most steep part of the trail.  Lydia liked looking around and eating apples and I had a nice time and was reminded that I'm glad I don't actually weigh 20 lbs. more.  It was fun carrying Lydia, but it was nice to take her off, too.  Here are a few pictures from our trip....the first of many, we hope.

We've been having a really fun summer, so far.  We went to Lagoon (an amusement park) with Paul's work a couple weeks ago and had a blast!  We weren't sure how Jacob would like going on rides by himself, but he loved them!  Especially the "green train," a dragon roller coaster, and the Ladybug Bop, a ride that lifts you up and then drops you a few times.  The only ride he didn't like was the Haunted House.  I guess he told Paul that he wanted to go home while they were on that ride.  We were lucky enough to go around with Paul's sister, Emily, and her family since Jonathan works at overstock now, too. We also ended up buying season passes since we could upgrade our day passes (which we didn't pay for) for cheap.  We've already been back twice since then.  I see a summer with a lot of roller coasters in our future. :)

Over Memorial Day, my parents came to visit.  We had a lot of fun with them and Jacob loved playing in the plane.  They almost forgot Flinga, the dog, at our house, but I'm sure she's glad we remembered her before they took off!

Other than that, we're excited for the summer and travelling.  We just bought a white minivan and are so glad to have more space and have more people ride with us (like when Ukki and Grandma Ukki came and we had to take two cars everywhere).  Have a good summer and hopefully we'll post some more of our adventures!
