St. George, etc.

The first weekend in January Paul, Lydia, and I went to St. George for the night.  Jacob got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa, which he loved, and the rest of us got to enjoy a quick road trip.  Our first stop was the Art City Trolley in Springville for lunch.  They have all sorts of quesadillas, salads, and burgers which were all delicious!  And, a select few get to sit in the actual trolley...we were not so lucky.  The place was packed on Friday for lunch.

 Next up...a pit stop at Cove Fort.  It was perfect timing.  Lydia needed a break from the car and we had wanted to stop there.  It was a fort built by Ira Hinckley (President Hinckley's grandfather) to serve as a fort and way station for travelers passing through. It's a museum now and it was really neat to see the telegraph office (with the telegraph running on what looked like jars of neon colors of liquid), the kitchen, and several bedrooms.  The missionary was really nice to give us a 10-minute tour of the place since it was really cold and Lydia wasn't super happy.

We stayed in St. George overnight and went to the temple grounds the next morning.  It was a beautiful day and there were TONS of people there taking down all of the Christmas decorations.

Driving to Mesquite.  We went to visit a high school friend of mine and her husband for brunch.  It was really fun to catch up!  Don't mind the extremely dirty windshield. :)

The End.  Then we drove home and picked up the boy. :)

Jacob takes after Daddy.  He LOVES egg nog and still requests it when he sees anything that looks like it could be egg nog in the refrigerator.  

My first attempt at being crafty in a non-sewing kind of way.  I have lots of friends who have cute Family Home Evening boards and, lets be honest, I was needing one, too.  So, after looking online and finding out that they're ridiculously expensive to have someone make one for you, I decided to make one myself.  A friend helped me with the lettering on her vinyl machine and I made up the rest.  Took a few hours, but I'm happy with how it turned out. (Family Home Evening is how we spend part of our Monday nights.  We have a little lesson on some gospel topic, do something fun together, and have a treat. Songs and prayers included, too, as you can see.)

Little Lydia happy to be in her Jump-Up.  She doesn't really jump, but she's been having lots of fun playing with the toys on the front of it.

Our Bountiful Basket from today.  It's a produce co-op around here.  You pay $16.50 and go pick up your random assortment of fruits and veggies for that week.  Sort of like the Community Supported Agriculture box we did over the summer, but the produce doesn't all come from the same farm.  We're excited to have all this variety this week. :)
